Teachers College has received an extraordinary $11 million commitment from longtime Trustee Abby M. O'Neill. The gift reflects both Mrs. O'Neill's passion for supporting aspiring teachers who demonstrate a commitment to teaching in New York City and her goal of removing financial barriers to fulfilling that commitment.

The gift from TC's Board Vice Chair's establishes a new Laurie M. Tisch Center for Food, Education & Policy at the College, seeds TC's capital projects and matches the Board's support for infrastructure.

"We can either kill each other, or sit down at a table and work out our problems," says TC Trustee Marla L. Schaefer (M.A. '03). "I vote for sitting at the table."
Marla recently gave a $575,000 gift to renovate just about everything at the International Center for Cooperation and Conflict Resolution (ICCCR), headed by Peter Coleman, Associate Professor of Psychology and Education. Her gift will create the Marla L. Schaefer Office Suite at the ICCCR.
