Christina Kapp, Assistant Registrar, and Uriah Carter at the Everybody Wins! year-end picnic in Whittier Cafe. The Everybody Wins! Foundation facilitates one-to-one reading relationships between volunteers and elementary school children. Volunteers who participate in Everybody Wins! Pia Rebello Brito, who received her doctorate in Developmental Psychology and is a research scientist at the Center for Young Children and Families, has won the 2001 International Reading Association Outstanding Dissertation Award for her study, "Family Literacy Environments and Young Children's Emerging Literacy Skills."

Research shows that recruiting the best teachers, preparing them at the highest levels, and assisting them through their transition into teaching has enormous influence on children. Teachers College created the New Teacher Institute in order to help do this.

In the first analysis of individual-level earnings data studying the relationship between earnings and workplace innovations, researchers at Teachers College found that self-directed and offline teams in the apparel, steel and medical and electronic imaging industries were paid higher salaries than workers in traditional production systems.

They were waiting to see the smiling face of a friend or family member beneath one of the 1,500 blue-gray mortarboard hats as the TC master's degree candidates marched into the Cathedral.
