Teachers College fosters a culture of professional development among faculty, staff, and graduate students in which excellence in teaching and attention to student learning are pursued.

Center for Educational Outreach and Innovation

The Center collaborates with professionals at Teachers College and external partners to deliver a variety of learning experiences including: leading-edge conferences, short-format workshops, courses, symposia, custom learning solutions, and e-learning opportunities.

Klingenstein Center for Independent School Education

Heads training and development of leaders for independent schools.

Principles & Practices of Organization Development

A two week residential program focusing on development of consulting skills. It is designed as a hands-on experiential program to develop and hone consulting skills. Each program is limited to 20 professionals in the organization development field.

Program in Organization Development & Human Resources Management

A three-week residential program that provides a unique combination of theory and practice. A faculty of three to four organization development professionals are on site for all three weeks, while a visiting faculty of outstanding practitioners and developers of the OD field provide one half or full day presentations on their particular areas of expertise. Each program is limited to 32 professionals in the organization development or human resources field.

Reading and Writing Project

Center helps create learning communities which involve educators at every level throughout Project schools.

Superintendent and Scholars Symposium

For over sixty years Teachers College, Columbia University has hosted a continuing series of annual work conferences for school superintendents. The conferences were originally developed in 1941 by Professor Paul Mort to answer new challenges facing the school superintendency. Throughout its history, the annual Superintendents Work Conference has continued to develop as an intensive in-service experience designed for chief school officers and other administrative personnel who hold or seem likely to achieve leadership in the profession.

The Cahn Fellows Program for Distinguished New York City Principals

Fifteen month fellowship program for exceptional New York City school principals designed to strengthen their own leadership practice. Principal fellows mentor a beginning New York City principal as a component of their fellowship.

The Clumsy Stormtrooper

Teachers College draws students from all around the globe, but Jonathan Bresman may be the first who comes to us via the desert planet of Tattooine. OK, he may not literally be Luke Skywalker's best friend, but you can see him playing, as he puts it, "the world's clumsiest stormtrooper" in remastered versions of The Empire Strikes Back -- just one of the wild turns his life has taken.
