This powerpoint presentation provides a basic introduction to the activities and organization of lesson study as it is typically conducted in Japan. It also clarifies some basic misconceptions about the essence of lesson study. Topics include: (1) an overview of lesson study; (2) the goal selection process; (3) sample formats and purpose of lesson plans; (4) ideas for sharing lesson study work and infusing it with rich perspectives.
