The Teachers College Record Special Issue for the Brown Anniversary

This May we will begin to publish on-line the special issue of the Teachers College Record commemorating Brown. This special issue, which will include as many as 30 articles written by activists, researchers and lawyers, promises to capture not only much of the history of Brown as a social movement but also what the legacy of this landmark ruling is for those of us struggle to provide more equal educational opportunities today. Teachers College Record will publish this special issue in collaboration with New York University’s Metro Center, which has been tracking the progress of Brown since 1974. In May 2004, the Center will host the “Brown Plus 50” conference in New York. Papers accepted for the TCR special issue will be presented at the conference.

The TCR special issue will also be published as a print version of the journal and will be made into a book. The on-line readership for TCR, a diverse group of more then 80,000 people includes many practitioners, researchers and policy makers. The special issue can be viewed electronically on May 1, 2004 and will be available for viewing throughout 2004.
