Developed by TC student Matt Vincent, Art by Subway NYC is a pocket reference for your iPhone or iPod Touch for discovering commissioned artworks within the New York City subway system. This application acts as a guide integrating data feeds supplied by the MTA which are openly available to the public, paired with custom station images photographed by the developer. New York Transit
New York City’s transit system is one of the largest in the world. The city is designed in a grid pattern, and most of the streets are numbered. “Streets” generally run east and west (river to river), and “Avenues” typically run north and south. Keep in mind there are exceptions to every rule.
Subway
The subway line closest to Teachers College is the IRT Broadway-Seventh Ave. local (#1 train). This train makes stops along Broadway between West 242nd Street in the Bronx and South Ferry in Manhattan. Take the #1 train to the 116th St. – Columbia University train station. The three major airports in NY are La Guardia, John F. Kennedy, and Newark. Taxi service directly to campus and bus service to midtown Manhattan, is available from all of the airports.
