How to Apply
The following pertains to DEGREE PROGRAMS ONLY. If you are applying for Non-Degree Status, click here for application and instructions.
Applying to Degree Programs
The Teachers College Application System is now exclusively online. By creating an individual application account, you will have access to the application forms for:
1. Create an application account.
Access the Teachers College Online Application System. When you first create your application account, you will be assigned an application PIN (Personal Identification Number) and asked to create a password for future access to your application account. Please remember your PIN and password, as you will need them to retrieve your application decision. Teachers College does not have access to this information once it is created.
2. Fill out the Application Form for Admission.
Indicate your degree program of interest and other required personal information. You may only have one active application to Teachers College at a time. Applicants applying to a certification program or cohort must indicate so on the application form. If you are unsure of which program best suits your background and academic interests, please refer to the Guide to Admission, as applying for the incorrect program will cause serious delays in the processing of your application.
We strongly encourage you to use a single e-mail address that will not expire before your desired term of entry for both the Application Form for Admission and the application account, as it will be used for all correspondence from the Office of Admission, including notification of your application decision.
3. Upload your Personal Statement and Resume.
The Application Form for Admission can only be submitted after uploading your Personal Statement and Resume. If your program of interest requires one, your Writing Sample may also be uploaded online.

4. Submit your Application Form for Admission.
The submission process requires three separate steps.
- Admission to Degree Programs
- Financial Aid Scholarship
- Housing

4. Submit your Application Form for Admission.
The submission process requires three separate steps.
- Confirming your application information
- Paying the application fee
- Submitting your electronic signature
5. Receive your Teachers College Identification (TC ID) number.
You will receive your TC ID Assignment E-mail within two-to-five business days after the submission of your Application Form for Admission. The TC ID is a randomly generated eight-digit number preceded by the letter "T". The TC ID is not your application account PIN. Please indicate your TC ID on all future correspondence to the Office of Admission, including e-mails and phone calls.
6. Submit your remaining application materials.
If your program of interest requires standardized test scores, request that your official score reports be sent directly to the Office of Admission from the Testing Center. For more information on standardized tests, please refer to the "Components of the Complete Application" section of the Guide to Admission.
You are responsible for collecting and submitting all remaining application requirements to the Office of Admission to be received by the application deadline. Application items not submitted online should be mailed in one package to:

All application materials mailed to the Office of Admission must be accompanied by a Document Cover Sheet. When completing the Document Cover Sheet, be sure to include both your TC ID number and your full name as it reads on your Application Form for Admission.Office of Admission

Under no circumstances can any application materials submitted to the Office of Admission be returned to the applicant or forwarded to another college, university, or third party. All records submitted in support of an Application for Admission become property of Teachers College.
7. Receive application status updates from the Office of Admission.
Once you have submitted your Application Form for Admission, you will receive regular e-mails updating you on the status of your application. You will be notified via e-mail if any required materials are missing from your application, when your application has been completed, and when a decision has been made on your Application for Admission.
