Designed for in-service teachers and practitioners who are interested in obtaining a advanced degree in 2 or 3 summers. Gain leadership skills and a better understanding of your field of expertise with TC's professional masters and doctoral programs.

Bilingual Extension Institute

The Bilingual Extension Institute at Teachers College Columbia University provides clinicians with the knowledge and skills to make these differential diagnoses and provide appropriate services. The bilingual extension certificate requirement of the State Education Department recognizes the need for special training. Any clinician who works with bilingual children and adolescents (ages 3-21) for IEP based-services must obtain this add-on to their Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities certificate. The Bilingual Extension Institute at Teachers College Columbia University fulfills all requirements of the bilingual extension, except for the NYSED BEA, the language proficiency test.

Community English & Community Language Programs

Program collaborates with a number of schools in the city to provide students with opportunities to teach ESL.

Music Improv Camp

This one-of-a-kind NYC summer camp experience offers singers, string, brass, woodwind, percussion, keyboard and guitar players the skills for improvising in Blues, Jazz, Rock and Classical music styles. Campers interact with like-minded musicians in a creative environment designed to promote learning and artistic freedom.

The School Law Institute

The School Law Institute at Columbia University is a national professional education program. It examines significant recent developments in school law and the impact they have on students, teachers, administrators, and schools. The Institute will convene from July 12-16, 2010, in air-conditioned conference space at Columbia Law School. Day sessions will be devoted to presentations, large group discussions, small-group work, case studies, and simulations. Faculty will be available to talk with participants throughout the week. Daily refreshment breaks will offer additional opportunities to continue discussions begun in class.

Adult Education Guided Intensive Study (AEGIS)

The AEGIS program is designed for experienced, self-directed professionals capable of completing a rigorous program emphasizing guided independent study. Students must complete 40 transferable credits from previous successful graduate study prior to beginning the program.

Intensive Masters in Computing in Education

Designed for teachers, technology leaders or aspiring technology leaders, curriculum designers, and other professions involved with technology in schools.

Summer Intensive Art & Art Education (INSTEP)

Guided by artistic and critical perspectives that are used to investigate pedagogical, philosophical, and theoretical issues informing educational theory and practice.

Summer Intensive English Education (INSTEP)

Address the needs of beginning teachers by offering them the opportunity to acquire their master's degree with expediency.

Summer Intensive Music Education (INSTEP)

Focuses on the needs of beginning teachers by offering them the opportunity to acquire their master's degree.

Summer Intensive Social Studies (INSTEP)

Prepares teachers to become proficient in dealing with topics as they relate to social studies teaching and learning with a particular emphasis on the interplay of theory and practice. This degree program focuses on developing leaders in social studies education for middle and high schools, and is designed primarily for in-service teachers.

Summer Principals Academy

The Public School Summer Principals Academy integrates practice and skill development with theory and research using case studies and simulations and teamwork. Aspiring school leaders are encouraged to construct transforming possibilities for student learning, school improvement, social equity, and opportunity. We foster leadership development through an integrated set of experiences that include sound theoretical and "best practice" knowledge, problem-based coursework and field-based experiences, including an intensive and extended internship.

Urban Education Leaders Program

UELP offers practicing school administrators and other education professionals an opportunity to complete a rigorous doctoral program while continuing to practice. It is dedicated to preparing committed men and women for lives of leadership and service in educational institutions of all kinds.
